The Spirit of God (35 min)

After spending some time in Daniel Ch 7 where this title of Christ first occurs, Josh moves on to discuss its occurrences in the Gospels and in the Revelation. PART 10 – Mervyn Hall preaches on the beautiful title “the Son of His love” or “His Son the beloved” from Colossians 1:13. Colossians Ch 1 is outlined and then the question is asked:- why does Paul, in the context, call Christ “the Son of His love”? Because, v14, Christ is the redeemer; because, v15, Christ is the creator and because, v18, Christ is the restorer of all things in Kingdom glory (Message preached 26th Mar 2017)

He outlines the “distinction between persons” in the Trinity on the one hand, and the “oneness in nature” shared by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit on the other. PART 8 – Joshua Jacob preaches on the expression “the Son of the Father” which only occurs once in the New Testament, in the 2nd epistle of John, verse 3. Josh highlights two main issues – the affection of the Father for the Son, and the attributes of the Son re. the Father. The Only Begotten Son (40 min)

PART 7 – Michael Penfold preaches on the expression “the only begotten Son” (Gk: monogenes) and explains its significance. He also takes up another title of Christ, “the first-begotten” (Gk: prototokos), and expounds its meaning. PART 6 – Marcus Cain preaches on the significance of the Lord Jesus being “the son of Mary” and “as was supposed the son of Joseph”. These titles speak of Christ’s lowly condescension and his legal identification respectively.
