John Stubbs went home to heaven in 2019 after spending decades in the service of the Lord, teaching the Word and preaching the gospel. He first came to Bicester in the 1960’s as a young preacher, newly commended to full time service. He made his last visit to us in 2014 for a series of ministry meetings on the High Priest’s garments, shortly before he developed Parkinsons, an illness that brought a premature end to his public service and which he bore with great dignity and grace. As a newborn baby, John was not expected to live…but God spared his life and we are all the richer for that intervention of the Lord. Overcoming physical disabilities, John fervently served, studied, preached and wrote – leaving behind a rich and fragrant ministry of Christ. In this wonderful message, given on a Sunday afternoon in May 2013 in Bicester, John took us on a journey through the epistles of Paul and showed that Christ is the answer to every problem and circumstance facing each assembly. It was a richly devotional sermon, full of deep and telling insights into the doctrines of Holy Scripture which will repay careful and repeated listening.
